finishing touches

i love long weekends. they give me enough time to knock out the routine chores AND work on some fun projects, too. remember the antler canvas and felt feather garland mentioned here? well, both are complete, and i love the way they fit into the gallery wall above the desk.

i ended up narrowing down the feathers to three colors and strung them beneath the white shelf already on the wall. i love the way it looks, and now i want to make LOTS of felt garland. a quick search on pinterest or craftgawker will pull up gobs of tutorials on how to make several styles. here's how mine turned out:

the antler canvas is also hung, and completing it was pretty simple. first, i used old encyclopedia pages and fed them through our home printer to print pretty pink peonies. then, i played around with their placement on the canvas, and used craft glue once i finalized their spots. last step? i hung the canvas among the other frames and sat back to admire it!

i've also prepped my first envelope and stationery for my 52 weeks of mail project and began working on one for next week, too. grace joined in the fun and used a pencil eraser and silver ink to decorate a card for her little friend.

now it's raining, so i'm off to the post office to drop this little letter off and then pick up coffee. hope everyone else is having a happy saturday (gus sure is!).
